175th Anniversary
Dane County is 175 years old! In summer 2010, looking ahead to the county's 175th anniversary
celebration this year, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and County Board Chair Scott
McDonnell announced their intention to begin planning for a fun and meaningful celebration
for all. They invited a committee of citizens to join together and help create a plan to
mark this significant milestone.
"Our county has grown and changed a great deal in 175 years and this anniversary offers
the perfect opportunity to showcase Dane County's rich history while looking forward to a
very promising future," former County Executive Kathleen Falk said.
"We don't often take enough time to reflect on Dane County's history and appreciate what makes
this county special. We are pleased to present a year-long array of community events to help our
nearly half-million citizens celebrate this notable anniversary," County Board Chair Scott
McDonnel said.
2011 is here! So please join in, toast Dane County's 175th anniversary, and enjoy our amazing Dane County home.
